It’s About to Get Corny!

Looking for fun activities in April? Two of my favorite Palm Beach County events happen to occur in this last month before the summer heat sets in. Though they’re at the same location, they couldn’t be more different, but they’re both a ton of fun.

First, head to the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, April 11-10 at the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Now, if you love cars and haven’t heard of Barrett-Jackson—you’re in for a pretty big surprise. This is one of the world’s finest collector car events and is broadcast internationally. The impressive show has just four stops—and our backyard in the Western Communities is one of them! Here, you will witness some of the finest cars in the world—from mint 50s beauties to muscle cars to today’s best. They’re all here and up for sale on the auction block. You can also pop into educational car chats, shop for car stuff and more. It’s an exciting, not-to-be-missed event!

But if you’re more down-on-the-farm than out-in-the-garage, April has another awesome festival coming up. On Sunday, April 28 from 11 to 5 at Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds, you can celebrate South Florida’s corn harvest at the Sweet Corn Fiesta! There’s lots of fun stuff for the family to do—live music, rides, corn shucking and corn eating contests. But for me, it’s all about that succulent, sweet, golden wonder. Grab an ear (or five) dipped in drippy, hot butter and dive in. There’s no better or sweeter corn anywhere on the planet. Trust me. You’ll want to bring home one of the bushels they sell. Absolute yum!
